Satire and humor exist in this society which both allude the shortcomings of others in the form of writings, speaking and actions comically, at least in the scope where the society could embrace for the best interest of expression. Again, both are active expressions of the minds towards the society in the position as participants, not bystander – and both are accepted as long as the expressions are socially accepted rationale. However, those which are excessive make people frown, and even make people turn against their backs.

Criticizing the issues of the society is certainly healthy in that it helps to make the world to be better with an appropriate solution. The problem is that the criticism is a riskless alternative unconditional attack which should not be a form of show at this current situation. Who would not want to walk out in a candlelight vigil and lament today’s embarrassing situation? Those involved in the fraud and lies must pay the fiddler ultimately.

If the law stands in a righteousness way, then shall justice be there – however if it’s not, then unlawful judge will take place – at the end of the day though, since public sentiment is the will of Heaven, time will eventually judge those who do evil.

At the National Assembly Member’s Office Building on the first floor, there is a controversy due to a recent art ‘곧, BYE! 展’, as this art with a title ‘Dirty Sleep’ is a parody of Edouard Manet’s ‘L’Olympia’ on President Geun-Hye Park in naked image. The background of this issue is that this painting shows naked President Park asleep in front of a picture that shows Sewol Ferry sinking, alongside with her father (President Chung-Hee Park) and ‘THAAD” Missile plus the two dogs in restraints. Beside President Park is Soon-Shil Choi with a baggage of syringe. Of course this is considered as today’s satire, however it sure is a big controversy as Congressman Chang-Won Pyo was instrumental in setting up such art exhibition from the first place. Regarding the pointing fingers on this, Congressman Pyo defended that “All of the preparation and other things related were from Cloud Funding and no other politicians were involved in this. The ruling party’s assertion is false.”

Congressman Pyo’s point is that this art exhibition was prepared by ‘those artists who strive for freedom of expression’ and their willingness to open such art forums in the National Assembly to express such parody. Furthermore, Congressman Pyo also added that the aforementioned controversial art ‘Dirty Sleep’ is definitely included in the form of ‘freedom of art’. As such controversies are rising up, those oppositions have painted a picture of Congressman Pyo and his wife in naked form, and claimed it to be their own parody.

Sure that the freedom of expression absolutely shall not be breached, and those criticisms on today’s situations cannot be blamed. However the extent of such should not exceed for the health of the society. Before one criticizes, he or she needs to check oneself if this genuinely is an objective for criticism or an attack with personal feelings of rage.

During the gloomy era, the intellectuals and educated people have always raised their voices for that their obligation on behalf of the people. Culture and art could be a sense of light and hope in such melancholy period of time – when sincere wish to save this world by putting down the personal feelings of rage. Only so then it becomes a genuine criticism, and will then be a form of high-quality satire which everyone would sympathize and agree.
